About microdermabrasion
Microdermabrasion performed regularly leads to new skin cells being produced which manufacturers say contains higher levels of collagen and elastin making your skin feel tighter and more youthful than it did before.
Microdermabrasion is evolving from the original devices which used micro-crystal microdermabrasion consisting of a spray of non-allergenic micro-crystals blasting against your face to remove the outermost layer of your skin to reveal a younger and healthier complexion. The more recent to hit the microdermabrasion market are the diamond tip products which scratch away grime and dry/dead skin cells. Are you wondering about microdermabrasion for your skin?
How are they different?
Micro-crystal units ‘blast’ the skin with a high speed stream of minuscule aluminium oxide crystals which literally blast away the topmost layer of cells. Diamond tip systems ‘scratch’ away the top layer using the strength of the laser cut diamond on the end of a wand. Whilst both are effective, the risk to eye damage is significantly lower with the diamond tip method and therefore many people prefer it.
Choosing a system?
Micro-crystal microdermabrasion might be better for you if you have:
- Deep scars or lines on your face
- Sagging due to age
- A fair bit of texture variation on your face
Diamond tip microdermabrasion could be the one if you have:
- Skin damaged by the sun
- Only small wrinkles on your face
- A real desire for an intense exfoliation
